We asked
«what are the best hotels in Sanremo?»
ChatGPT · gpt-5-6
If you’re looking for upscale or memorable hotels in Sanremo, these are the ones I’d put on your shortlist:
- Royal Hotel Sanremo - The classic luxury choice. Right on the seafront, with large gardens, spa facilities and a pool; it’s also about a 5-minute walk from the casino. Booking.com currently shows a 9.1/10 guest score, while Tripadvisor lists it at 4.4/5 from 1,400+ reviews.
- Miramare the Palace Hotel - A stylish, restored historic property overlooking the Gulf, with gardens and access toward the beach/promenade. Booking.com currently shows 9.1/10.
- Hotel de Paris Sanremo - A more intimate luxury option near the casino and seafront, with a particularly convenient location.
- Europa Palace - A smaller upscale option on Corso Imperatrice, close to the center and waterfront.
- Best Western Hotel Nazionale Sanremo - A practical choice if you want to be right in the historic center, close to shops, restaurants and the casino, rather than staying primarily at a resort.
My shortlist by type
| If you want… | Consider |
|---|---|
| 🌊 Classic Riviera luxury | Royal Hotel Sanremo |
| 🌴 Stylish resort atmosphere | Miramare The Palace |
| 🏛️ Historic/elegant feel | Royal Hotel Sanremo |
| 🎰 Casino + central location | Hotel de Paris |
| 🚶 Walkability to the center | Hotel de Paris / Hotel Nazionale |
| 💰 Upscale without full 5-star pricing | Hotel Paradiso / Grand Hotel Des Anglais |
The Royal Hotel and Miramare are the two properties I'd investigate first if the goal is a genuinely special Sanremo stay; both are particularly strong for the classic Italian Riviera experience.
If you give me your dates, budget per night, and whether you want beachfront/pool/romantic/central, I can narrow this to 3-4 hotels and check current prices.

The top hotels in Sanremo (Italian Riviera) center on a few standout luxury properties with strong guest ratings, plus solid mid-range options. Rankings draw from recent Tripadvisor traveler rankings, Booking.com scores (typically 9.0+ for the leaders), and frequent mentions across hotel guides.
Top Luxury Picks (Most Frequently Recommended)
These are the consistent frontrunners for quality, location (seafront/promenade near the Casino and center), amenities, and reviews:
| Hotel | Approx. Rating | Highlights | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
| Royal Hotel Sanremo | Booking ~9.1 (1,300+ reviews); Tripadvisor ~4.4/5 | Historic 5-star (since 1872) in subtropical gardens on the seafront promenade (Corso Imperatrice). Heated outdoor pool (Gio Ponti design), modern spa/wellness, multiple restaurants, tennis, near Casino. Elegant old-world luxury with modern comforts and excellent service/staff scores. | Classic luxury, couples, special occasions |
| Miramare the Palace Hotel / Resort | Booking ~9.1; strong overall praise | 5-star with picturesque gardens overlooking the Gulf, heated pool with sea views, private promenade/beach access, free parking, gym. Friendly staff frequently highlighted. Slightly more resort-like feel. | Beach access, relaxation, families/couples |
| Europa Palace | Often 9.1+ (sometimes higher in smaller samples) | Central location near beach and Casino, spa/wellness options, restaurant, modern updates. Strong guest feedback on comfort and convenience. | Centrality + luxury amenities |
| Hotel De Paris Sanremo | Booking ~8.9 | Distinctive Art Nouveau style, excellent location next to the Russian Church and a short walk from the Casino/center/sea. Elegant rooms and good service. | Style, walkability, boutique feel |

Strong Mid-Range / Value Options
- Lolli Palace Hotel — Art Nouveau villa on the Promenade Imperatrice with good facilities and ratings around 8.5.
- Hotel Principe — Central, quiet location near the Casino, free parking, consistently popular 3-star with solid reviews.
- Residence Dei Due Porti — High guest scores (often near 4.8 on Tripadvisor) for clean, well-equipped apartments/suites; great for longer stays or self-catering.
- Best Western Hotel Nazionale — Convenient central location with reliable service and amenities.
- Others frequently noted: Villa Sylva & Spa, Hotel Villa La Brise, Hotel Sole Mare.
Quick Tips for Choosing
- Location priorities: Seafront/promenade (Corso Imperatrice or nearby) for views and easy beach/Casino access. Center/old town for walkability to restaurants, Teatro Ariston, and the Russian Church.
- Best overall for most visitors: Royal Hotel Sanremo for the full historic luxury experience; Miramare for a more resort-oriented stay with strong beach proximity.
- Budget note: Luxury properties often start in the higher range (hundreds of euros/night depending on season and dates—Sanremo peaks around the Music Festival in February and summer). Mid-range options offer better value while still being well-located.
- Ratings and prices fluctuate; always check recent guest reviews on Booking.com or Tripadvisor for your specific dates, as service, room condition, and value perceptions can vary. Look for current promotions, breakfast inclusion, and parking/spa access.
Sanremo’s mild climate and compact size make most of these highly walkable to key sights. For the absolute latest availability and photos, search the hotel names directly on major booking sites. If you have preferences (e.g., budget range, pool priority, family-friendly, specific dates, or proximity to the Casino/Festival venues), I can refine the suggestions further!
